What is kundalini energy?
(and how your body releases tension through the psoas and nervous system)
Many people feel tension in their bodies.
Restlessness. Difficulty relaxing. A sense of always being “on.”
And often, we try to solve this by thinking about it.
But what if the answer isn’t in your mind…
but in your body?
In this blog, I’ll take you into what is really happening inside your body
when we talk about Kundalini energy, the psoas, and the nervous system.
Without making it “spiritual fluff.”
But also without losing the depth.
⸻
What happens in your body during stress?
When you experience stress, your body automatically shifts into a survival state.
Your heart rate increases.
Your breathing changes.
Your body tightens.
This is all regulated by your nervous system,
and an important hub of this system lies in your pelvis:
the pelvic autonomic plexus.
This is where activation (action) and relaxation (rest) come together.
When this system stays activated for too long,
your body can struggle to truly return to a state of rest.
⸻
The psoas: the muscle that holds everything
In that same area, you’ll also find the psoas muscle.
A deep muscle that connects your lower back to your legs.
But the psoas does more than create movement.
It is a muscle that directly responds to stress.
When you feel tension, it contracts to protect you.
And when that tension isn’t fully released,
it can continue to hold onto it.
You might notice this as:
– a restless feeling in your body
– difficulty relaxing
– tension in your lower back or hips
– the sense that you’re always “on”
Your body isn’t working against you…
it’s trying to protect you.
⸻
What is Kundalini energy (in the body)?
Kundalini energy is often seen as something mystical.
But when we bring it back into the body,
you can also see it as:
the energy that is released when tension lets go
and your nervous system creates space again
When the body feels safe enough,
something begins to shift.
The energy that was once held,
can start to move again.
You may experience this as:
– vibrations
– warmth
– tingling
– wave-like movements
– emotions being released
Not because something “new” is being created,
but because your body is returning to its natural state.
⸻
The body wants to move
What many people don’t realize
is that the pelvis is not a fixed structure.
There is a subtle movement within it.
A rhythm of:
opening…
and closing…
When your body relaxes,
this rhythm begins to return.
And within that rhythm,
tension can be released.
This is not something you need to control.
It happens naturally…
when your body feels safe.
⸻
How my sessions support this
In my work, I use the body as the entry point.
Not by analyzing,
but by experiencing.
⸻
BRTT (Body Remembers Trauma Therapy)
This method helps the body release tension through natural tremors.
Especially in the psoas and pelvic area.
The body does this on its own.
Without forcing.
⸻
During these sessions, I invite your body
to allow energy to flow again.
Not controlled,
but facilitated.
What was held,
can begin to move.
⸻
The breath is one of the fastest ways
to influence your nervous system.
By breathing consciously, you:
– calm your system
– come out of your head
– and return into your body
⸻
From understanding to feeling
You don’t need to fully understand this
to experience it.
In fact…
real change often begins
the moment you stop analyzing
and start feeling.
Your body knows the way.
When you give it space
to move
to release
and to relax…
it will restore itself step by step.
⸻
Finally
What we often call “energy”
is not something separate from you.
It is your body returning to balance.
Your nervous system settling.
Your muscles letting go.
And from there…
space opens.
For softness.
For rest.
For flow.
⸻
Do you feel something is stuck?
Maybe you recognize it…
that your body is holding tension
but you don’t quite know how to release it.
You’re welcome to explore this together.
In a safe space,
where nothing needs to be forced
and everything is allowed to be there.
You don’t have to do this alone
